Is this a free service?
Yes, an estate clear out may be offered for free so long as the client is comfortable with LC Thrift taking possession of all the contents of the space with the understanding that some of those items will be sold. In turn, LC Thrift covers all expenses associated with disposal fees, donation coordination and delivery, labor, time, fuel, transportation, and storage. Please note that LC Thrift is not a junk removal service, and does not provide cleanouts where a significant portion of the items remaining in the space are considered household waste, unusable items, or broken / non-working items.
How clean do you leave the space?
We will leave the space in “broom clean” condition, which means that we will do a basic sweep with a broom and dust pan, but that is all. We do not offer household cleaning services.
Do you purchase items / will you pay me?
Possibly. Occasionally, an estate clear out has items that LC Thrift is actively looking for, and can therefore offer a buy-out price to purchase the contents of the space. Additionally, LC Thrift still covers all expenses associated with disposal fees, donation coordination and delivery, labor, time, fuel, transportation, and storage.
Is LC Thrift a re-seller?
Yes. LC Thrift re-sells pre-owned goods. In the example of an estate clear out, pre-owned goods that are still usable will be sold to the public.
How long does a cleanout take?
Typically, LC Thrift completes clean outs within a few days. However, depending on the nature of the space (e.g. entire home, garage-only, storage unit), it may be faster or slower. We’ll be happy to provide a time estimate during the initial consultation phase.
What type of spaces do you cleanout?
We will consider most spaces, including but not limited to: entire homes, apartments, garages, off-site storage units, a single room in a house, and more.
I’m not the original owner of the items OR I’m helping someone else with their estate. How does that work?
If the original owner is available and located in Las Cruces, NM, then they need to be present for all meetings and have the ability to understand and sign an agreement in-person.
If the original owner is available but lives elsewhere (outside of Las Cruces, NM) then they need to be present for all meetings virtually and have the ability to understand and sign an agreement via an online notary.
If the original owner is deceased or given power of attorney to another individual, then proof of executorship or power of attorney is required, with matching photo identification.
Notarization may also be required.
Is this a junk removal service?
No. LC Thrift is not a junk removal service. We would incur the fees for sorting and disposing of any garbage in the case of a cleanout, but we do not haul away junk as a service. Additionally, we do not provide cleanouts where a significant portion of the items remaining in the space are considered household waste, unusable items, or broken / non-working items.
