According to the legend of Romulus and Remus, the story tells of twin brothers who founded Rome. After being abandoned, they were miraculously nursed by a she-wolf and then raised by a shepherd. They later killed the tyrannical king who had ordered their deaths, restored their grandfather to the throne, and then decided to found their own city. A quarrel over the city’s location led to Romulus killing Remus, after which Romulus founded the city of Rome on the Palatine Hill and became its first king.
