La Minerve was a satirical, fictional flying ship designed by the Belgian magician and balloonist Étienne Gaspard Robert (Robertson) in 1803. The design was a whimsical proposal for an “aerial vessel destined for discoveries” intended to be a caricature of elaborate ballooning concepts of the time. Historically, the image satirized the ambition of the era’s early flight pioneers.
